20 Mile Update - Almost there...

We had a great turnout for the first 20 mile run. It was nice to see some new faces joining in for the long pleasurable (not) journey.

We had another Jason sighting (in the back with the helmet next to Steve the comedian) but again this was only while he was standing still... I think I saw him go by the hydration stations but I can't be sure.

We had some welcome additional support from a few of the injured and a couple of the curious. It's been quite fun with people getting accustomed to seeing the bright orange shirts along the path on Saturdays and we are getting used to seeing some of the same faces training on the other teams as well. I know we saw several from Team Ellijah and shared some cheers, high fives and gatorade. We're looking forward to October 12th and the end of this year's run, but at the same time I'm sure we'll all miss it. O.K. well maybe not all of us...

Does anyone know what the initials W.C.T.U at the base of the fountain mean?

The first person to email me at glennbingham@gmail.com with the correct answer wins a semi-fabulous prize.

I think it stands for Willow Creek Therapy Unit and until someone convinces me otherwise that's what it means and for those that have found so much relief in it's waters, I doubt that they would disagree.

So how much money have we raised for our cause so far?

As of this posting, Team Willow DuPage has raised $16,102!

While we all have individual goals, the answer to the question of our team goal is as much as possible! The goal of Team World Vision is $1.5 million. The people of Zambia and the children of God who are serving there truly need all that we are able to provide.

While we have forged many new friendships and have had many joys and pains along the way, the important part of this are the people in need and will remain that way unless we and others like us step up and do something to change it.

We really do need your help and thank you for your support.

As we do every Saturday, we'll be back at it again at 7:00 am on the 13th. You are always welcome to join in for the fun of the run, biking along with the runners, helping out with hydration, or greeting the runners at the therapy unit at the end.

Feel free to email with any questions at glennbingham@gmail.com
